INSPIRATION

    Project 2016

As a Mother, my inspiration for creating music today is based on this amazing life journey to give and receive love -- an extraordinary journey given to me by God.

This year, I've been doing a lot of thinking about the word “love” and how it can be beautifully described in many different ways.

For me, there are two distinct forms of love: human/carnal love that comes from our heart, and the divine/spiritual love that comes from our soul. And while both forms of love can heighten our human senses when its given or received, I believe the divine form of love is the ultimate gift that feeds the universal fountain of life. This is the spiritual form of unconditional love. This is the lesson I've learned on my journey here on this chaotic yet blissful, is this reality or illusion, Bohemian Rhapsody place we call planet Earth.

In my pursuit of gaining a deeper understanding about love in its raw "unplugged" spiritual form, I've turned to Mother Nature and during my quiet walks with her, I have discovered an interest in field recordings, audio recordings of acoustic sounds produced by nature. I have been working on integrating some of these field recordings into instrumental music and will be releasing previews of some of my new works this Fall.

    ABOUT

    ABOUT

Monica was born in Los Angeles and raised in Glendale, Arizona. She fell in love with the piano at the age of 8.

At 16, she wrote her first film music composition, Echoes of Lemuria, and that original work gained her entrance into Boston University's prestigious Tanglewood Music Institute where she focused on developing her music composition skills.

During her 20's, as a struggling songwriter trying to catch that "big break" before social media was around, Monica left part of her heart in New York City, and returned to her hometown to finish her college degree at Arizona State University. Music gradually became a pursuit of personal fulfillment rather than a career endeavor.

In 2014, Monica released Little Lullabies, a contemporary folk album of original songs inspired by the highs and lows of raising a son on the autism spectrum.

Since the release of Little Lullabies, Monica has received a number of industry awards including Best Americana EP for the 2014 Akademia Music Awards and a nomination for Americana Album of the Year for the 2014 Los Angeles Music Awards. In addition, Monica is the proud recipient of Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year for the 2014 Phoenix Music Awards.

Little Lullabies is available for digital download on iTunes, Amazon, and other on-line music retailers. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Little Lullabies will be donated to Arizona Autism United Inc., a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization.

Monica's music is organically driven with a minimalist approach in an attempt to capture the listener's attention to the beauty of simple melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
